Fleetmatics helps fleets comply with new VOSA standards

The agency recently warned van operators that those failing to comply with the renewed van operational standards will be targeted by authorities. VOSA has also made no secret of its intention to ramp up the number of roadside inspections it undertakes.

The Fleetmatics “Fleet Maintenance Reports” function allows fleet owners to set up service alerts within the Fleetmatics management system. These alerts can be set by calendar time, engine-on time or mileage, depending on the type of service needed. If, for example, a van is due to have its MOT, the alert will notify the fleet operator, providing a detailed description of when the work needs to be carried out.

Van operators can set up alerts to cover each vehicle within the fleet and manage their vehicle maintenance needs in one place. A service record is also maintained on the Fleetmatics system, which eliminates unnecessary paperwork.

Richard Brooks, European marketing director for Fleetmatics, commented: ‘By setting up maintenance alerts, van operators can extend the life of their fleet, keep it productive and have peace of mind that they are in  line with VOSA’s renewed van operational standards. Fleet owners have less to be worried about and can shift their concentration back onto their day to day tasks.’
